About kosmos
How kosmos cups are created?
Everything starts with an idea of shape.
First step is to create prototype of the shape on pottery wheel. It is one of my favorite parts of whole process. Once the shape is ready i use plaster co create mold, that will allow to recreate cup many times. It takes approximately 3 weeks to dry plaster mold before it can be used. After that i use liquid clay to recreate vessel. It takes approximately 20 minutes for plaster to absorb moisture from the clay, and then few hours to dry off. After few days of further drying it can be bisque fired(900 Celsius degrees). Here comes most magical part of the process. Glazing.
Almost everything i create is brush glazed, this method gives me most control on the final effect, as most of my pieces are glazed with many different colors, i cannot simply dip them in the bucket. After final firing (1250 Celsius degrees) cup is finally ready to use. All glazes i use are certified to use with food and drinks, and all items can be washed in dishwasher without any harm on the color or surface.
